Teens in the twenties and the present

A flamboyant youth subculture with its own ways of speaking, dressing, and acting flourished in the 1920s. Everything began to change for the youth as they began to stop conforming with the past ways teens would grew up. I don't believe there are any major differences between the teens in the 20's and the teens today besides the the period of time. The amount of similarities though any many. Teens in today's day and age have just as many "bad" behaviors that the teens in the twenties did. This can be translated into the music, the way we dress, drugs and alcohol, and sexual intamacies. I dont beleive we are a worse generation, I beleive that we are just like what people thought of teens in the 20's. Society and culture change all the time  and its usually the youth that is most affected by it or has the most affect on it.

Paulo Nutini -Last request

Slow down, Lie down,
Remember it's just you and me.
Don't sell out, bow out,
Remember how this used to be.

I just want you closer,
Is that alright?
Baby let's get closer tonight

[chorus:]
Grant my last request,
And just let me hold you.
Don't shrug your shoulders,
Lay down beside me.
Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere,
But one last time let's go there,
Lay down beside me

Oh, I've found, that I'm bound
To wander down that one way road.
And I realise all about your lies
But I'm no wiser than the fool I was before.

I just want you closer,
Is that alright?
Baby let's get closer tonight

[chorus]

Oh, baby, baby, baby,
Tell me how can, how can this be wrong?

[chorus x2]

Yeah, lay down beside me.

One last time let's go there,
Lay down beside me

What the artist is trying to say is that he's realized that he is bound to be alone for the rest of his life but he is asking to be with the person he loves for one last time to hold her. I particularly enjoyed this song because i feel like it gave me an idea on what modern day blues really are. The message of the song doesn't have much to do with any of the legendary blues songs but the sound of it and the tempo pair a resemblance to them.
